Design and Technology

At Axbridge Church of England First School Academy we believe in a curriculum which seeks to develop the whole child, including opportunities to express oneself, and to feel wonder through the visual and creative arts. The study of Design and Technology prepares us to participate in tomorrow’s rapidly changing world.  It channels our curiosity, and concerns the purposeful use of creative and critical thinking and invention. ​

We want our children:

• To develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world
• To build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills in order to design and make high-quality prototypes and products for a wide range of users
• To be able to critique, evaluate and test their ideas and products and the work of others
• To understand and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook simple, healthy food
